"MY ART IS ABOUT THE JOURNEY, THE PROCESS FIRST, THE PRODUCT OF
LITTLE CONSEQUENCE EXCEPT AS IT ENRICHES LIFE. I CHOOSE MY OWN
PATH, MY OWN DESTINATION. ART IS NOT MY LIFE, BUT, ALL MY LIFE
ENDEAVORS TO BE ART."

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Art has been the one constant in a life spent mostly on the road, with 28 moves involving homes in
seven states, on three islands, in four countries and on three continents. In my work I attempt to
convey not what I see but how I visualize; the how is defined by the sum of my experience, memory, and imagination, and tempered by a collaboration with, and respect for, the idiosyncrasies of my medium of choice. In my three dimensional work I seek to marry strong, contemporary forms with complex surfaces; the forms are a combination of wheel thrown, hand built, altered and assembled parts. My cone eight clays and glazes are customized to produce surfaces evocative of clays ancient origins. All work is raw glazed and single fired to permit an interaction between clay and glaze not possible in the more conventional method involving separate bisque firings. I have spent four years working out of my home based Leesburg, Florida studio where I have strived to perfect my unique approach to ceramic art.
